Embroidered Angel

This angel is actually a little too large to wear as a necklace; I made her for our quilt guild's challenge, "Wearables Have Wings," in which they will show accessories as long as they have a total wingspan of eight inches. The background is suede foiled with gold (skirt) and holographic patterned silver (wings); the face is a German glass cabochon, and there is an amethyst geode cabochone embedded in her torso.

Skirt Detail

The skirt is worked with overlapping fly stitches in seed and bugle beads, with larger beads and sequins at the points of the stitches.

Wing Detail

The wings are also done with fly stitch, this time arranged to form a netted filling. Small crystals and star beads were randomly placed in some of the net openings after the fly stitch was worked.

Torso Detail

The torso is worked in close fly stitch with bugles and 3mm gold beads, bordered on each side by chain stitch in different colors of beads.
